The territory

The Winery "San Michele Archangelo" is situated in the northern area of the town of Vasto, the Roman Histonium, in the province of Chieti, in the southernmost part of the Abruzzo region, which borders the region of Molise.

The approximately 700 acres of vineyard in the winery equipment, comprising 450 members, are spread on the area hillside sloping to the sea coast, the entire town of Vasto and part of neighboring countries.

The successful nature and exposure of soils and good seasonal and diurnal temperature range due to the beneficial effect of breezes of the Adriatic, is an environment particularly favorable for growing grapes of MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO, TREBBIANO D'ABRUZZO, FALANGHINA, CHARDONNAY, PECORINO.

In particular, the Montepulciano grapes are capable of expressions of world-class for power, elegance and size of olfactory nuances. Once exclusively reserved for cutting, the Montepulciano-based wines are characterized by dense tannins, soft and not too aggressive, by hints of cherry and by full final.

An old wine tradition that has its deepest roots in the civilization of Magna Graecia and the Etruscans, and the natural role of soils, mostly limestone-clay, allow to produce wines with a truly unique and special characters.
